4 DAYS GORILLA TREKKING TOUR AND MGAHINGA HIKING
DAY 1 : TO KISORO
A tour guide from AA safaris and tours ltd will pick you up from Kampala and transfer you to Kisoro. This drive takes you through the beautiful and virgin parts of Central Uganda and then later a stop over for lunch. Proceed through the furthest extention through the magnificent scenery of Kabale with views of mountains, lakes, hills with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest. On the last hill the panorama spreads out underneath us, taking in the extensive planes between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo, with the Virunga volcanoes dictating the scene. Beneath the valley is Kisoro, where we will stay at the
Budget – Virunga Hotel or Nkrungo safari Centre or Kisoro Tourist Hotel
Standard – legendary Travellers Rest Hotel which was named by a Gorilla researcher Dianne Fossey as her second home having visited it several time while in her research about Gorillas.
Luxurious – Clouds Lodge or Mt Gahinga Volcanoes Lodge
DAY 2 GORILLA TREK
Wake up relatively early for a cheerful breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla trekking in Africa . Before 8:00 am report to the ranger station for registration and a briefing by one of the rangers; the guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from half an hour to 10 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of ankle level Hiking boots ) . On encounter , you will stare at the Mountain gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It’s amazing to think there are only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left. Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge
DAY 3 : IN KISORO HIKING THE GAHINGA VOLCANO
With your hiking gear, you will then be briefed about the hiking of Gahinga Volcano on this day. You will have this day climbing Gahinga Volcano . The trek will take 6 hrs; at a distance 8km and height 3474m and an altitude of 1100m above sea level.. After this trekking experience , you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and over nigh or if the trek ends early , you will be transferred to Kabale to relax and also shorten the distance between Kampala and Kisoro .
DAY 4 : TO KAMPALA
Take breakfast and then later you will be transferred back to Kampala. Lunch en route proceed to Masaka and then take a stop over a the Equator. You will later be transferred to the airport for your late night flight back home or to Kampala if you have booked another night in Uganda.
