Uganda advised to restore national airline
The government of Uganda has been advised to restore the national airline if it will control the opportunities the tourism sector provides.
Mr. David Mpango Kakuba, the Deputy Managing Director of Uganda’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said a national carrier will help the country get a centre and a way to promote her tourism attractions. Airlines cannot advertise Uganda’s tourism attractions on their flights but will be advertising their own attractions so a national airline will market the sector.
He said they have advised the government that the sector cannot successively market tourism only if they have a national airline.
People who visit Nairobi tend to visit Mountains of the moon because the brochures, leaflets they give to them to read have Rwenzori Mountains. But when they come to visit the mountains, they spend a short time and taken back to spend the money in Nairobi.
The number of people at Entebbe has increased currently to 1.2 million each year compared to the last three years but the highest number is mainly from outside Uganda.
