Uganda is a home to half of the few remaining gorillas. These gorillas live in groups/ families, like humans.. Bwindi is a home to over 6 groups to include; Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura, Bitukura, Nkuringo and the newest of all Nshongi. The first 4 groups , can be accessed through the Main bwindi that is the Buhoma sector whereas the last two can be easily reached through the southern sector of the park also referred to as Nkuringo.
Located in the south western corner of Uganda is Mgahinga national park that covers the northern slopes of the three northernmost Virunga volcanoes ; Mt. Muhavura (4,127 m), Mt. Gahinga (3,474 m), and Mt. Sabinyo (3,645 m). The park is a home to one of the groups of gorillas i.e. Nyakagezi, however this group is unreliable because in some months it crosses over to Congo. .
